In Şırnak, women called on the people of Botan to join Newroz 2018 to be celebrated with the motto, “Newroz is resistance, and it is spring of people against fascism.” Saying that they will shout peace in Newroz celebration to take place on March 21, the women emphasized that they will turn Newroz area into spring with their colors.
Indicating that Newroz has an important place in Kurdish history, Piroz Tetik said that they celebrated Newroz with enthusiasm and with the spirit of resistance every year and that they will celebrate it with the same feelings. “I am calling on all people of Şırnak to fill the areas of Newroz,” said Piroz.
‘We will turn Newroz area into spring with our colors’
Emphasizing that they will fill the areas of Newroz, Meryem Yılmaz said, “The women taking to the streets on March 8 will take to the streets during Newroz.”
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Şırnak Provincial Co-chair Ayşe Altay wished 2018 Newroz to bring victory, peace, equality and freedom to the Kurdish people. “No to war,” Ayşe said, “They want war but we want peace and fraternity. The victory will belong to the Kurdish people. I am calling on all mothers, youths, women, men and children of Botan; let’s join hands and celebrate Newroz. I wish Newroz to bring victory to us.”
Akide Kabul meanwhile sent greetings to resisters of Afrin and she said, “All of us will take to the streets on March 21 in Cizre. We call on everyone to join this enthusiasm.”
